I found a great alternative for wedding shoes ( yes it is quite early to buy shoes but if I wait they will no longer be available! ). They are a mule that is covered in white sequins and has 2 criss-crossed straps to hold them on the foot. The only thing is I wanted a small heel and these are flat…. I am vertically challenged compared to Madhujit so I ideally went looking for a heeled tennis shoe ( I am trying to find the most comfortable, yet practical and not practical balance of the shoe that fits my personality – what a description!)
It is really hard not to buy anything because I am (FINALLY) starting to plan… but I have a year.
I now have to consider the food. I would love to have Tandoor provide the food for the wedding but they just drop off the food and run ( atleast at this point). Can you hire a caterer to just watch over other providers food??? An interesting question… which I will answer for you when and if we decide to go along that route.

Planning a Wedding
It is now official…. as many people who actually read my site, know, Madhujit and I are getting married…. the question was when! We now have a date set – August 5th, 2006. I am really excited because now I am starting to actually plan! I need to get most things done this next month before Madhujit’s parents leave…. so if you are interested I will talk about my experiences planning a wedding.
Original idea: SMALL wedding with around 30 people… well… we sat down and then wrote out who should be invited… guess what – the guest list grew and is now at 100 people…!!!! Which unfortunately I cannot cut anyone I in the list except like 2….
So go away small wedding idea in the back yard and welcome atleast 10 thousand dollar wedding!
You have to understand this number is a budget that is not including a DJ or a photographer…
Why did I chose this? well we can easily make a CD with all the music we like and play it and have a friend announce the different events at the dinner and it is cheap to buy a disco light… they sell them at target as novelty items!
Between Madhujit and I we own some decent cameras – both digital and film – we will let the wedding guests take the picture! LOL… then get the pictures processed at Sams – 8 x10 is like 3 bucks… very good pricing this way.
Unfortunately we cannot use the backyard idea… if the weather is horrible 100 people will be a tight fit in the house… It was almost done before… we did have around 75 people at our house before when we celebrated busia’s 70th birthday party… but it did not need a dance floor!
Now the challenge was to find a room that could accomadate this many people that would allow dogs AND allow me to get my own caterer and bring my own alcohol! I am not going to jinx myself by saying I have found this place yet but I have my fingers crossed!
I am also considering that Madhujit and his groomsmen have nice black suits instead of a tux… I mean why pay the rental fee when you can spend just a few dollars more and get something that you can use again…
Now the brides maids… well I originally wanted saris.. but then I got to thinking… I think my brides maids will be uncomfortable in a sari.. so now what… I have a variety of shapes, heights and coloring… what do I get? I decided to go with the dress I bought Jessica for prom last year. I have an identical dress that I will have altered to fit Katie, and Felicity can find a black dress that she likes!

a full weekend ahead…
Madhujit and I are trying to decide what to do for our vacation.. spend money – go to a nice place or buy a pool ?? hard decisions. This weekend my tech from Rite Aid is getting married – Madhujit and I will be attending the wedding.
Unfortunately, a friend of the family lost their little boy so saturday is also a day to go to a funeral.
Then Sunday – Madhujit, his parents and I are going to drive up to visit G2 & Crissy….
Felicity ‘s birthday is next Tuesday — so happy birthday!
That covers it….

walmart visits
Yesterday Madhujit, Mukul, Sibani, and I went to Walmart… I just have a few observations…. not the brightest bunch of people… I went to check out and one of my books were not ringing up the price marked… common retail sense – you use the price marked on the book as the price – but yet, she had to get a price check in which someone came and said you use the price the book was marked…. well – how intelligent.
But in smaller towns, walmart is the place to be – that is the only place in town open past 8pm ( not really but almost true) Marian (Felicity) and Wooster (Madhujit) ohio, plesanton, TX (Coronado’s ) ….
okay I am done talking about walmart.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
When the first Harry Potter craze happened years ago I did not understand the hype ( plus as a student at the time, did not have many chances of reading for enjoyment) but one day we (Madhujit and I) sat down and watched the first movie. At this point, I was hooked… and everyone knows that the book is always better then the movie. So at this point I went out and bought the first 3 books ( that were available at the time) and sat down and read them all in a day. Still, many people ask – why the harry potter series… there are a lot of decent children’s books series with a fantasy base ( Check out Tamora Pierce’s series and Patricia C. Wrede series – though these are more for the female readers). Harry Potter appeals to both the young and the old. It has a storyline of the classic type fairy tale ( we hope eventually Harry will end up with his “happy ever after” ) with the awesome and strange dangers but with real emotions thrown in. So, of course, the new Harry Potter book was released yesterday and I purchased it first thing in the morning…
I am again amazed with the way JK Rowlings pulls the reader in and creates the environment that you can see. It is well written, but for me, the end made me quite sad. ( I do not want to give anything away for the people still reading). As Madhujit and I were talking as I travelled to work, he made a great point. Without killing the character off, Harry would not have a chance to mature into his power to excel because the character would always be there known as the best.
Well, that is about all I would like to comment on the book now so I do not spoil it – but if you have not tried the harry potter books, I suggest starting with book 1 and see if you too, catch the harry potter bug.

is there a full moon tonight?
Why would you come to the pharmacy and ask where exactly the fish food was located at????
It has been a nice weekend. Madhujit and I just relaxed. Felicity had her graduation party on Saturday and so we attended for a short-while. We did not stay long because as a pale white person, the sun is very harsh when you forget to wear sunscreen….
We went to Maumee Bay State Park on sunday for brunch and they had some light house festival that I found someone to do some glass work pendants that have a camel design on it… I actually do not have it, it is being made for me!
We also watched the food network on Saturday and decided to do that show’s dinner. It was very interesting. It was the bruschetta bar cocktail party idea. It was a nice change for a dinner – I had sparkling grape juice while Madhujit and the rest had wine. Check out this site ( I do not remember how to anchor urls so you while have to copy and paste!)

The food network is one of our favorite things to watch because we actually like watching it and can agree unlike most of the different shows on television. My favorite show is Iron Chef… not the american version… I like the japanese version – the show just has more flair then the american version. I would not eat a majority of their stuff though- the japanese people eat lots of wierd fish and other sea creatures that I would never, ever want to eat….
I think this it is for tonight…

After the holidays
Well this was an exciting weekend… we discovered that our new house has an excellent view of the fireworks that Springfield township puts on. So for us, next year that will be party time. Yesterday Madhujit and I went shopping and we checked out the new mall ( I have already been there but Madhujit has not been there) and Borders is very disorganized, and could not find the product that we wanted but we were able to find it okay at the discovery store… thats about it…
