Viagra and marketing and banning Ephedra

Filed under: General — Lady Dobry @ 1:08 pm

In the past I did some projects on Levitra and the whole marketing aspect of this type of drug interests me. Viagra created themselves as the “one” to get, and they are continuing to try to get more attention. There is new research out there that is trying to say whether Viagra can work for women. It can, believe it or not. The way it works is the drug blocks phosphodiesterase 5, which in women, when this happens the blood flow to the vagina is enhanced. The only thing to keep in mind is it is not going to work with all women– the women have to have desire, plus the correct balance of estradiol and testosterone.
Back to the discussion about marketing. Cialis has come out as the “weekend warrior drug”. But to be honest with you, doctors are not responsive to this advertisement. Doctors are still going with Viagra most of the time because there is more clinicial data and additionally, Viagra has taken the majority of the marketshare while Levitra and Cialis were just ideas. If Viagra continues to find uses for the drug and get these approved by the FDA, Levitra and Cialis will probably get no where in the market share. Funny things happen when you discover different side effects to investigational drugs– Viagra was for the heart before they discovered the “breakthrough” side effect.
Now lets make this a complete posting by bringing up Ephedra…. lolol… this is one way to increase my hits…
As most people know, Ephedra ( aka ma huang) is a dangerous drug that people use for weight loss. Many people can contribute their death to the use of Ephedra and the side effects that it causes. Finally, the FDA will ban Ephedra — they are able to do this using the DSHEA law– the FDA had to prove that the supplement, Ephedra, causes harm so they can have these supplements removed from the market.
The people making money from these products are not too happy with this and are introducing “new” ephedra replacements– they are different because they contain a different supplement, synephrine, and is still dangerous….

On a personal note, Daisy is still not wanting to listen. I must say, she is a stubborn puppy, but she is still adorable. Daisy just loves to play with Madhujit’s dog, Luckey… Daisy will take toys directly out of Luckey’s mouth, and run around, trying to get luckey to chase her….
Well… I need to finish lunch and head back to flower…..
