The tail end of a nice weekend

Filed under: General — Lady Dobry @ 8:04 pm

Madhujit and I had a nice weekend. I worked until 5 on friday and we had the evening free. Madhujit cooked chicken korma and Katie came over… and we watched mash and looney tunes. Saturday was a great day. We drove up to Michigan looking for some indian place, we did not find it but we ate at apple bees instead. We then went to Cabelas. I bought a pair of heavy duty wool socks. We then chilled at his place. Today we had another Thanksgiving Dinner with the Dobraks. It was a good dinner and we had some great desserts. Madhujit and I also went to Sams Club to pick up a few items. We think that is what we will do for food for our New Years Eve party– pick up prepared food from Sams.
I passed all of my classes so I am now an official owner of a new MBA degree from UT. I remember when they would call the university TU. This is still heard among the Toledo natives.
Roxy is so cute… earlier today my mother and I decided to take a walk on the university park trail, which basically goes from King Rd. to the University of Toledo and we took Roxy along. We normally walk until we hit Wildwood park and then back. Right after crossing McCord on our way back, Roxy decided she has had it and she is tired, so she laid right down on the pavement and would not move… so we had to carry her to the car. lolol…
I have some more stuff to complete before I go to Madhujits again, so I will sign off here.

Merry Christmas and to all a good night

Filed under: General — Lady Dobry @ 12:08 am

It has been a wonderful holiday season. Yesterday, we had our extended family come over for dinner. Soon pictures will be posted in my gallery ( either Friday or Saturday). I also went to church. We attended mass at St. Adalbert’s Catholic Church on LaGrange St. in Toledo OH. This is the church were I grew up. At one time, I was an extreme devout catholic, but some things have changed. I am not so sure catholism is totally right. I was raised to think that God is a loving God and everyone is important in the eyes of God. A few years back, I went through a disagreement about the importance of other religions. I was told only christians will make it to heaven, which I disagree, because we are only humans and we do not have the final decision to make. Anyways, to make a long story short, I changed from good catholic girl that lectored, ministered and attended church faithfully to a good girl that believes in a God that loves everyone and I believe in salvation for everyone, whether they be catholic, jew, hindi or muslim. Where am I going with this– well Father Marek, the pastor of St. Adalbert, had an interesting homily welcoming everyone home and that every one has a place there, that there is always room. He mentioned that among the crowd there were people that attended weekly and people that attended twice a year, but whoever you are, you are a member. This struck me because going to church felt good… as a homecoming. I do not believe that it is necessary to go to church every weekend, or even regularly or on holidays. God knows our hearts and He loves us, but going back to traditions is a comfort when needed or desired, either in times of celebration, like Christmas, or in times of sorrow. I strongly feel that a strong religious background while growing up gives the child a strong foundation for their adult life. This does not necessarily conveys that it should be an extreme education, but something that gives fundamental beliefs where comfort in faith can be found.
Well enough about that, so we went to midnight mass and then came home. Matt and Justin were still up, and we decided to open presents then ( that means that we could sleep in during the day) My brothers Matt and Justin, and I were treated nicely by my mom. My mom gave me my puppy ( of course) and a scarf and a garnet bracelet. Garnet is my birthstone. My Busia gave me a coat tree ( why this, I have no idea), a sweater, and a air filter for my car ( which according to Madhujit, should improve my gas mileage.
We woke up later today of course, and Madhujit and John came over and we ate left overs ( We always over do the dinner on Christmas eve. Our traditional dishes include Oyster Stew, Ham, Turkey and Kielbasa and pototoes and pierogi and of course, the shrimp cocktail — which I do not like– and then all the desserts.) and we watched some movies, including the Christmas Story and Freaky Friday.
I have a new phone. It is again the same one Madhujit has. This time he got the phone first, though I had service first. It has a camera in it and it is a flip phone… I will have to see how I do with this, because I have had bad experiences with flip phones…
Well, it is time to go to bed, for I have to work again tomorrow.

Sitting on a dreaded mac

While Madhujit is speaking with his parents, Katie is holding Roxy, while I am “blogging”. I worked all weekend with Dick…and I work tomorrow, tuesday and wednesday. I have Christmas Day off though. I am almost 98% complete with my christmas shopping. I still have a few last minute gifs to buy. I am very unhappy with my new phone from sprint. The problem is that the buttons are not programmable at all… and the phone I have has too many ready-link buttons ( a new service from sprint) but I am not paying for it and I cannot change it! I am going to try to change my phone…. Katie is trying to teach roxy steps. She can do the ones on the deck just fine, but she is daunted by the indoor steps; Busia will have to start running up steps when she babysits when I am at work… Busia, Madhujit and I saw a operetta yesterday… I must say, the Toledo Opera puts on horrible show– we were very disappointed with the quality, and will never give it another try. We did see the lights before christmas on friday. The Toledo Zoo does a great job putting up lights. It was very pretty… I gave Roxy a bath today…. she had fleas when I took her to the vet on Wednesday and they treated her and the vet told me to wait 4 days before I washed her– so I did and she really needed it! I cannot wait until the summer, when she is old enough and hairy enough to shave her…. Roxy is just adorable, though many of the pictures do not give her justice… she is too dark to be very pretty in pictures. Ruby Tuesdays that opened up on glendale really needs to get their act together… We did eat there after the lights… they forgot to bring me out mushrooms, but they fixed that right away… they are only 2 minutes away from where I work, so I thought to try them for their carryout service, and they forgot my soup yesterday, so then I tried them again today so they would not forget about my soup, and this time, they gave me no silverware to eat with! I went in and complained and they made it right, so I will give them one more try ( lolol… they also gave me a $10 gift certificate for my problems). Madhujit and I are having a new years eve party — I do not know who is going to show up, but we will see…it should be an interesting collection of people… my cousins, my busia and then 20-somethings…lolol… and don’t forget the dogs. Luckey, Madhujit’s dog, loves Roxy. She thinks Roxy is her baby. She takes care of her and even lets Roxy chew on her tail and ears… but just wait, once Roxy grows up, Luckey will put Roxy in her place. Roxy is learning quick and she is already spoiled… all she wants to do is to lay on the couch and play. Katie is spending the night today… tomorrow she is going to babysit Roxy while I am at work. well I really guess that my blog was named appropriately– because all of these thoughts are very disjointed!

A night of studying

Filed under: General — Lady Dobry @ 12:00 am

I have a new puppy, as mentioned earlier ( you can check out her pictures in my gallery) but tomorrow I have a final, so I should start studying now…lolol… Roxy is doing fine– she loves playing in the snow… we played about 5 times in the snow, and Justin went out to play with her 2 times… so she is getting lots of attention… she was whining when I put her in her cage, but it is bedtime for Roxy and study time for Jennifer… After this week, I am done with classes… this is final week, I only have 5 with 1 take home… It is such an interesting feeling, after 6 years in school, I just have rotations and I am done… Well… accounting, here I come…

The Duchess Roxy Baby

My new puppy
My new puppy
My new puppy, Roxy, is out! We ran around and played all day and she just had to take a nap! I will get some good pictures up in my albums as soon as she is awake, but here are 2 ( they are larger files, so you have to download them!)of her sleeping

A new puppy…

Filed under: General — Lady Dobry @ 2:14 pm

I have a new puppy, another cocker… I just could not get anything else…. they are the cutest little things! She is not buff, like molly or brandy, but she is black, with a white crest… soon I will be posting pictures… she does know how to make an impression on busia! We let her play outside before we brought her in, but within the 1st 10 minutes of being home she took 2- #2s… busia still thinks she is the cutest little thing!
The family was calling her duchess, but Justin does not like that, so we are calling her Duchess Roxy Baby… long name but will probably just call her Roxy…
I am so happy and she is a great dog ( besides her introduction to busia!)
I will post pictures later…now she is having a nap and will be given a bath when she wakes up!
